Success Stories
United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Birmingham provides integrated multi-specialty healthcare services to their patients at their 4743 square foot Health and Wellness Center. Patients receive care from specialists in Family Medicine, Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine, Optometry, Dentistry, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Pathology. UCP's Medical Director, Dr. Mark Cohen, engaged Physician Innovations to create an Electronic Medical Record solution for the facility. Dr. Cohen sought to streamline his operation, especially the exchange and sharing of clinical information between the multitude of clinicians involved. He also wanted an up-to-date facility suitable for the teaching of residents and other clinicians in training.
Physician Innovations met this challenge by implementing the VistA Office electronic medical record system. This solution is based on the highly regarded system developed by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs and used across the country by over 140 hospitals and many outpatient centers. United Cerebral Palsy was provided with custom order sets and templates for each of their specialties to enable each clinician to work as quickly as possible. Our staff worked with Dr. Cohen and his fellow clinicians to provide one-on-one training so everyone would feel comfortable with the system.
"Setting up an EMR has allowed
us to improve not just our information handling but our scheduling
and every other aspect of our clinic. I must
also comment on the excellent and prompt support we have been given
after the installation was completed. It has been a pleasure working
with the staff of Physician Innovations and I can wholeheartedly recommend
this company to those practices wanting to
set up an EMR system."
